I was asked by another friend of mine about some good exercises to do if you want to start getting in shape, but don't have a lot of time.
Well, that one is pretty simple... When you don't have much time, the best thing to do, is do exercises that engage more than one muscle group at a time. For example, instead of doing simple push ups, you could do Burpees, which look a like this (see below).
Burpees will engage your arms, shoulders, chest, stomach, thighs, calfs, hamstrings, etc. All in one exercise. So you will burn more calories in a shorter time. And you will keep burning calories even after you are done. So 10mins worth of burpees will be more effective than 20mins worth of regular push ups.
If you don't know how to correctly do burpees, just go to YouTube and there are many tutorials on how to do them.
Here is a good short workout, that will burn a lot of calories in 15-20mins.
- Run in place for 1 minute just to get your heart pumping and warming up. Then get it in!
1st Set:
1. 20 normal push ups
2. 25 floor crunches
3. 20 burpees
4. 25 bicycle crunches
5. 20 jump squats (or normal squats, if you can not handle jump squats)
(Do these five without a break between each exercise, then at the end rest 1 minute)
2nd Set:
Same order, but minus 5 from each exercise (if you are more advanced, then add 5 or keep the same)
(Do these five without a break between each exercise, then at the end rest 1 minute)
3rd Set:
Same order, but minus 5 more from each exercise (if you are more advanced, then add 5 or keep the same)
4th Set:
On the fourth set, you should keep the order of exercises the same, but this time, take it to failure on each exercise (which just means, do until you can not do anymore). It may mean doing more reps, or less than you did previously, but go until you can't do anymore on each one.
Stretch.:
Make sure to stretch a little, to let the blow flow into your muscles. And if possible, eat something light (egg, yogurt, turkey sandwich). Just something to get a little protein in you.
This should take you no longer than about 20mins to do.
Go ahead my friend... GET IT IN!!!
